Dateline: Glenville, New York

Winifred (Winnie) A. Knapp, age 96, of Hetcheltown Road, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Glendale Nursing Home. She was born on March 4th, 1924 in Schenectady, New York and was the daughter of the late Earl and Mae (Kessler) Hays. Winnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother who enjoyed creating things. She liked sewing, crocheting, knitting, making stained glass objects and baking. Her family and friends enjoyed many Birthday and Anniversary cheesecakes and cakes baked with her loving hands. Winnie was also known as an excellent cook. She has left behind so many treasures, crocheted tablecloths, knitted sweaters, throws, quilts and so much more with family and friends. Winnie worked at the General Electric Co. as a keypunch operator during WWII. She was a member of Christian Women’s Club for many years and made many lifelong friends. In later years she still got together with some of these friends, for lunch once a month.

The family would like to thank Glendale Nursing Home and all the staff in the Dutch Hollow neighborhood, for the wonderful, loving care Winnie received, they were just wonderful.
