Obituary for William D. Kownack Sr.

Dateline: Glenville, NY
William D. Kownack, Sr., age 90, of Park Drive, passed peacefully at home joining his beloved wife Pat on Monday, July 16, 2018. He was born on July 22, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of the late Charles and Harriett (Hagadorn) Kownack. Bill grew up with his brothers on the family farm in Boyntonville and later the family moved to Cohoes. He and his wife raised their five children in the home he built in Burnt Hills, residing there for the last 64 years. He was an Army veteran. He had a successful career as a draftsman and architect working at GE, Ryder & Link Architects, Cullen & Associates, and Schenectady MHA.

He and his late wife, Patricia (Havron), enjoyed their retirement years, wintering in New Port Richey, FL, where they have many friends. Back home you'd find him in his favorite chair cheering on his favorite baseball teams, doing crosswords or his bridge and always enjoying the win at the rumicube table.

He is survived and will be missed by his five devoted children, Joan Kovacik (John), William Jr (Laurie), John (Carole), Julia Simonton (Barry), Christopher (Luz). He adored all 20 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held private and there will be no calling hours.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions may do so to the American Cancer Society.

With confidence, the family has placed their trust in the loving care of the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, and they encourage you to view and leave messages on Bill’s Book of Memories at www.TownleyWheelerFH.com
