Dateline: Middle Grove, NY

Russell J. Fidler, age 64, passed away on February 12, 2021 at home, surrounded by his family, after a long batter with pancreatic cancer. Russell was born on July 24, 1956 in Niskayuna, NY to the late James E. and Julia (Dicocco) Fidler.

Russell graduated form BH-BL High School Class of 1974. After high school he worked at various local business before settling down to work at R.E. Michaels in Schenectady, NY until his retirement as a customer service representative after 21 years. He enjoyed his job and was good at meeting and helping customers.

During this time, Russell was still a family man, raising his children and enjoying his hobbies. Russell enjoyed spending his time in the great outdoors, either holding a fishing pole or out hunting, spending time in the garden, or playing with tractors. He relished in the beauty of classic cars, especially his beloved Ford Mustangs. He was one of the original founding members of the Adirondack Shelby Mustang Club. Russell was a tinkerer and could often be found in his garage repairing anything with a motor.

Russell met his wife, Peg, in 2013 and they were married in 2017. During their time together, they enjoyed many adventures, traveling and enjoying the outdoors, friends, family, and grandchildren.

Russell is survived by his dear wife, Margaret (Peg) Fidler; children Douglas Fidler (Urliki) and Jack Fidler (Elyse); Stepchildren Jo-Ann Peasley, and Matthew Willi (Meagan) and half siblings Lisa (Christiaan) Rittner and Brian (Laura) Fidler and his step-mother Alice Fidler, along with many loving grandchildren. His is also survived by many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.

Along with his parents, Russell is predeceased by his sister, Judy Fidler.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 1:00-3:00pm at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY. Please note that social distancing, masks, and occupancy limitations in the funeral home will be followed.

Spring interment will be held in Greenridge Cemetery, Saratoga, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Russell’s name to the Estherville Animal Shelter, 100 Russell Rd, Greenfield Center, NY 12833.
