Obituary for Myrtle M. Butler (Morgan)

Myrtle M. Butler, age 95, of Main Street, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Herkimer, NY on September 30, 1923 a daughter of the late Elmer Ellsworth Morgan and Helen Rachel James. Myrtle graduated from Herkimer High School in 1941, and attended Penn State College and Traphagen School of Fashion in Manhattan. During WWII she worked briefly as a clerk for Military Intelligence in Arlington, VA, and held various retail positions in Herkimer, NY before her marriage to Robert F. Butler in Newport NY on February 14, 1953. The couple was married for 57 years until Robert’s passing in 2010.
Myrtle loved sewing, fashion, reading, knitting, music and art. She enjoyed watching Yankees games with her family. Her greatest love was her family, and she always put their needs before her own. Her love and support will be greatly missed.
She was the loving wife of the late Robert F. Butler Sr.; devoted mother to Mary E. Miller, Eileen R. (John) Duell, Robert F. (Jane) Butler, Jr., and Richard M. Butler; adoring grandmother to Elizabeth Miller and Emily (Michael) Smithers, Mariah (Justin)Bosy, and Morgan (Jessi)Duell, Robert F. Butler III, James Butler, Joseph Butler and Anna Butler, and Melissa (David)Garufi, and Melanie Butler; loving great-grandmother to Daniel and Hayden Smithers, Nora and Mia Garufi.
Myrtle is predeceased by her siblings, Martha Thomas, Elmer “Bud” Morgan, Emery Morgan and Herb Morgan.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Emily Etzkorn, and The Saratoga Hospital for the exceptional and compassionate care Myrtle received.
Special thanks also to Ms. Diana Marcelli for her kindness and companionship.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday, Oct. 7th, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm.
Myrtle will join her husband in rest at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
