Kristen M. Spellan, age 42, passed away suddenly on January 1, 2023. Kristen was born on August 13, 1980, in Niagara Falls, NY and was the daughter of David and Deborah (Morris) Kanipe.
After high school, Kristen earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in Graphic Design and Art History. She later worked as an office manager for Redmark Realty in Clifton Park. She met her adoring husband, Gregory, in high school and the two reconnected as adults and were wed on October 4, 2008.
Kristen was nothing short of a vivacious spirit and was enthusiastic in various interests throughout her life. Beginning in her younger years, Kristen utilized her high-energy attribute in numerous athletics, such as dancing, gymnastics, track, swimming and cheerleading. More recently, she shared her talents as a member of Burn Boot Camp in Clifton Park. She greatly enjoyed diversifying her cultural insight by traveling throughout the U.S. and Caribbean regions, being an avid reader, and delving into graphic design and art history. She portrayed such a love for visual art by decorating her own home, always with a keen eye for design. Kristen was a people person, having been both fun loving with a good sense of humor, and taking the time to help others, finding the wounded, and lifting them up whenever she could. She was also a huge animal lover and would have rescued every last one. Especially close to her heart were her cats and two Whippet dogs whom she loved dearly.
Kristen is survived by her loving husband Gregory S. Spellan, her wonderful parents, David and Deborah Kanipe; dear sister Heather K. (Donald) Divelbiss; sisters-in-law Angela (Bryan) Held and Laura Spellan; brothers-in-law Jonathan (Trisha) Spellan and Danial Spellan, Jr.; fathers-in-law Joseph (the late Nancy) Sidor and Daniel (Dodie) Spellan, Sr.; Uncle James (Denise) Morris, and nephew John D. Divelbiss. Kristen is also survived by many loving extended family members and friends.
Kristen is preceded in death by her mother-in-law Nancy Sidor.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday January 6, 2023, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY.
A funeral service to honor Kristen will conclude the evening at 4:00 PM, at the funeral home.
