Obituary for John J. Story

Dateline: Clinton, NY

John J. Story, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Baptist Hospital in Miami, Fl . John was born on April 15, 1949 in Cleveland, OH to parents George and Elizabeth (Phillips) Story.

John attended New Hartford high school and following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as an Airman on the USS Saratoga during the Vietnam War. After his service he continued his education at Utica College of Syracuse. John started his career in accounting at the Interstate Commerce Commission in 1975 in Washington, D.C. He then worked for the Federal government as an auditor for 35 years until his retirement in 2008.

John was a devoted family man and loved by all who met him. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, the beaches of Florida and Cape Cod, and traveling the world. His most loved hobby was cheering on his kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews in all life events. John wanted to make memories with all his family and friends.

Survivors include his dear children Heidi (Rodney) Brewer and Shaun (Theresa) Story, sister Edith (David) Brady, Nephew David (Mimi, and kids Kaylea, Meghan, and David Jr.) Frezza, nephew Robert Frezza, niece Karen (Frank) Rocco, and his beloved grandchildren Jackson, Tyson, Jameson Brewer and Cole and Anna Story. He is survived by his dear friends Susan Phelps and Jill Tyksinski. John is predeceased by his sister, Sharon (David) Frezza.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 4:00-6:00pm at Townley and Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY. Please note, masks, occupancy limits and social distancing will be followed.
