Joan Bessarab, of North Ferry Street, passed away on November 14, 2018 at home after a long battle with breast cancer.

Joan was a longtime resident of The Stockade, affectionately known as “The Queen”.

Joan was a successful realtor with Welbourne and Purdy at the Nott Street office. Joan was also an active member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, where she served two terms as warden.

Joan is predeceased by her loving husband, Michael Bessarab; her parents, Thomas and Mary (Cole) Delacy; and her loving siblings, Helen (John) Kelley, Evelyn (Fred) Darrah, William Delacy, Thomas (Florence) Delacy and Mary Esther (Ray) Dare.

Joan is survived by her sons, Craig and Eric Bessarab; her grandsons Zachary and Jacob Bessarab.

A Requiem Mass and reception will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11 AM at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 31 North Ferry Street, Schenectady, New York 12305.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church.
