The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Condolences

Condolence From: Katharine Harris
Condolence: Uncle Chirt (the name I knew him by) was such a nice and sweet man. My family (his sister, Phyllis, was my mother) lived up the Mohawk River in Clinton and Dad owned the local newspaper, so we were only able to visit Grammy and Pop and all the Colyers once or twice a year. But whenever we got there, we had such a warm and loving time. Fo' Castle Farm was a favorite - great food, fun stuff to buy and friendly faces! And last year, I brought two friends to Chirt's and Caran's. One of my friends is blind and Chirt inserted her within the branches of an apple tree. Linda could pick apples to her heart's content and loved it! I miss you, Uncle Chirt!

Condolence: My Cousin Chirt will be missed and remembered by so many with a smile. A great story teller, he always laughed and teased me when we saw each other, that I scared him and must be a ghost because I looked and acted like our deceased Aunts and added a few anecdotes to prove his point. I am so glad I reconnected with Caryn, Anne and Sarah at his 85 birthday party, my sincere condolences to you all. I have wonderful memories of our gatherings, and babysitting for Anne and Sarah, and a cat named Purple.

Condolence: Having the good fortune to grow up with many aunts and uncles in my life when I was growing upstate New York.
Many years we went to Cape Cod for a week collecting seashells and waiting for the egg lady to let everyone know that fresh eggs were available.
We flew kites and had ice cream most days. I remember my Uncle Alan boiling fresh lobsters and making sure everyone had what they needed. He was a gentleman to all.
I worked for my Uncle and with his daughters at the Country Store.
I learned a lot from him about treating customers with respect and to do what is right.
After graduating from college, I struggled to find my first job.
My Uncle rehired me back and paid me more than he had paid me before out of respect for my newly acquired college degree.
I miss him already and was thankful to be able to speak him one last time this fall.
