Our History

Our History

Since our founding, the guiding principle of

Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home has been the

commitment to treating each family who comes to us as our own.
With sincerity, pride, and dedication, we are holding true to this time-honored tradition.

In 1949, Wendell Townley, along with his wife, Jane, bought the home from the Leffingwall Family. Together, they raised their five children there and established a long standing commitment to the community. In 1971, Harold Townley and his brother, Frank Townley, came home from serving in the Army during Vietnam and attainted their funeral directing licenses. From 1974-1979, the brothers worked with their dad and upon his death in 1979, they carried on the tradition. A reflection of his own parents, Harold and Maureen, his wife, raised their family at the funeral home.

Our reputation for providing the highest quality of service grew, and today we are privileged to serve many families each year.

In recent years, we’ve gathered together a staff of highly-qualified and deeply caring individuals to assist us in continuing the funeral home’s mission of providing excellence in service to families in their time of need.

Whether you have an immediate need for our services or you wish to begin pre-planning a funeral arrangement for you or someone you love, call us. We will be proud to serve you.
