Obituary for Emily Mercoglan Hickerson (Iannetti)

Emily Mercoglan  Hickerson (Iannetti)
Emily Mercoglan Hickerson, age 97, former long- time Glenville and Schenectady resident, died on Monday, April 17, 2018. She was born in Rutland, VT on June 2, 1920 and was one of nine children of the late Charles and Romilda (Del Venerie) Iannetti. Emily graduated from Rutland High School, class of 1939. She worked as an auto parts supervisor in the Schenectady Army Depot in her early years. She was a child nurse, nurses aide and candy striper. Emily loved to try new things and she was an enthusiastic athlete all her life. She enjoyed sewing and playing sports like bocce and pickleball. She was an active and much- loved member of Burnt Hills United Methodist Church. She was a well- known member of the Burnt Hills and Scotia Glenville Seniors. Emily was very socially active and was a kindred spirit to her many old and new friends.
Emily is survived by her children Linda Williams of Port St. Lucie, FL, Thomas Mercoglan of Schenectady, NY and was also the mother of the late “Snook” Mercogliano; and also the former wife of the late Dominic Mercoglan. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to attend her funeral service on May 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Burnt Hills United Methodist Church, 816 NY Route 50, Burnt Hills, NY 12027.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
