Obituary for John Scott Meacher

Dateline: Harrisburg, NC
John Scott Meacher, age 89, died on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Haven in Highland Creek
Memory Center. He was born on May 29, 1928 in Chicago and was the son of the late Harry
John and Esther (Scott) Meacher. Mr. Meacher had lived in Harrisburg since 2013and was a
formerly of Ballston Lake, NY for over 50 years.
John worked as a Mechanical Engineer with MTI and then Plug Power in Latham NY from 1964
until he retired in 2003.
John enjoyed gardening, spending countless hours in his workshop building/ fixing almost
anything. He also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds from his window.
John was the husband of the late JoAnn B. Meacher who died in 2005; father of Mary Ellen
(Karl Thorkelson) Meacher of Hanover, NH, Dorothy Evelyn (William) Swingle of Susanville,
CA and Esthere (Paul) Strom of Harrisburg, NC; grandfather of Siobhan Meacher, Ophelia
Ratcliff, Colin Ratcliff, Nathan Ratcliff, and Peter and Annalisa Strom.
All are welcome to attend an open house style wake on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 10:00
AM – 11:00 AM at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY. A
funeral service will conclude the gathering at 11:00 AM. Immediately following the funeral, the
family and those who wish will process to the Ballston Village Cemetery, Ballston Spa to bring
John to his final place of rest along-side his beloved wife, JoAnn.

Queensbury Avenue, Queensbury, NY 12804.
