Obituary for Manmohan Singh "Mohan" Gill

Dateline: Glenville, NY
Manmohan Singh Gill, age 84, died on April 6, 2017. He was born in Punjab, India, on May 6. 1932. He was the son of the late Joginder Singh Gill and Daljeet (Grewal) Gill.
Mohan came to the United States in 1956 with the dream of becoming an engineer. He graduated in 1961 from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Engineering and from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1964 with a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
He worked as an engineer for General Electric from 1967-1990 in various divisions including the Large Steam Turbine Generator division in Schenectady.
Mohan was a member of folk dance groups in Schenectady and Albany. He enjoyed tennis, cross-country skiing, and photography. He also enjoyed traveling both domestically and in Europe. He especially liked driving cross-country, visiting many national parks and state capitol buildings.
But there was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with family. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary J. Gill, daughter Meera Gill, son-in-law Solomon Marini, and granddaughters Zora and Lorelai Marini. Other survivors include two brothers, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held on May 6, 2017, at 2pm at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
